Kentuckiana Pride Festival Announces 2019 Entertainment Lineup: Daya, Mykki Blanco to headline LGBTQ+ Pride Festival and Parade at Louisville’s Big Four Lawn
The annual Kentuckiana Pride Festival will take place Friday, June 14th and Saturday, June 15th on the Big Four Lawn at Waterfront Park in Louisville, Kentucky. The festival and it’s Board of Directors are pleased to reveal the 2019 entertainment lineup: Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter, Daya, and performance artist, poet and provocateur, Mykki Blanco, are set to headline the The Stonewall Stage Presented by Tito’s Vodka, along with performances from Cakes Da Killa, Dusty Ray Bottoms, Brody Ray, Myylo, and numerous others.
Louisville will be well represented with local talent on the festival’s two stages, with performances from Cover Me Badd, Bridge 19, GRLwood, DJ Syimone, DJ AJ McKay, Sheri Streeter, Delefaye, DJ Scz, DJ Be Phenomenal, VOICES of Kentuckiana, Louisville Gay Men’s Chorus, Center Stage, Pandora Productions, and more. Rounding out the lineup will be regional talent Lung, Jess Lamb, Marjorie Lee, and Siri Irmani (of Triiibe).
The Pride festival kicks off with the annual Pride Parade on Friday, June 14th at 7:00 pm. This year’s parade will begin at Campbell and Market Streets and end at the Big Four Lawn.
Daya – Since making her debut with 2016’s double-platinum “Hide Away,” 19-year-old singer/songwriter Daya won her first ever Grammy Award for her smash collaboration with The Chainsmokers “Don’t Let Me Down,” released a gold-certified album, and headlined a national tour. Just months after debuting at #5 on Billboard’s 21 Under 21 list in 2016, the Pittsburgh-born artist emerged as the youngest honoree on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 music list in 2017. Newly signed to Interscope Records, Daya is set to deliver a sophomore album that finally shows the full depth of her talent and scope of her artistry.
Mykki Blanco – Amassing a vast online following with a savvy and savage social media output, Mykki is hailed online as a digital warrior princess who rules across the underground music scene with mixtapes like Gay Dog Food, cult hits like Kingpinning and sensational videos like Coke White, Starlight, The Initiation, Wavvy, and Haze Boogie Life. Blanco’s output to date has been hailed as razor sharp, ahead of its time and sometimes deliciously far out. Yet this album seems to leave much of the mayhem behind, marking yet another departure, this time in favour of melody and musicianship, and Mykki comes of age as a serious chart contender.
Cakes Da Killa – A Brooklyn-based rapper hailing from New Jersey. His signature 90s flow and cutthroat wordplay has garnered praise from HOT 97’s own Ebro & Peter Rosenberg to Anthony Fantano of the Needledrop. His sound is a mixture of rapid fire lyricism marinated with booming club beats. With a few mixtapes under his belt & a killer live show Cakes quickly became a must-see act on many festival lineups around the world. This signature sound has kept Cakes touring globally since he bursted on the scene in 2012. Cakes is a key player in the recent conversation of LGBT visibility in music and has been featured in various media outlets sharing his journey as an openly gay rapper and performer. In 2016 his much anticipated debut album Hedonism was released.
Dusty Ray Bottoms – Dusty Ray Bottoms is the stage name of Dustin Rayburn, a drag queen and performer who competed on the tenth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Dustin is originally from Louisville, Kentucky but moved to New York to pursue a career in acting.
