For the first time since the massacre last June, when Orlando’s Pulse nightclub went from patrons’ having to witness nightmare in a matter of seconds. As owner Barbara Poma turned on the building’s outside lights Sunday — reminding mourners what it looked like before everything closed down.
As Barbara Poma reflects for 12 years, the club grew into an integral space for the gay community, one shattered within a matter of minutes by a madman with a gun. Poma wasn’t at the club the night of the shooting, but every day since she has felt a sense of responsibility to mend what happened there.
Kentuckiana Pride Foundation along with various inter-faith groups around town will be coming together to honor the lives taken during the tragedy at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
The event will take place tonight at Highland Baptist Church of Louisville, 1101 Cherokee Road, Louisville, KY 40204 starting at 7pm.
The mission of the Kentuckiana Pride Foundation is to provide a forum for creative expression and education related to the LGBTQ+ community and to give back through charitable and in kind donation.
